iLet “bionic pancreas” is finally available!
The iLet is an automated insulin delivery system that reduces the need to make decisions about your diabetes management – because it makes the decisions for you. Unlike with the other three automated insulin delivery systems on the US market (MiniMed 780G, Tandem Control-IQ and Omnipod 5) iLet only needs your weight to get going. There is no carb counting, correction factors, carb ratio or pre-set basal rates needed.
The iLet Bionic Pancreas System is a closed-loop system that delivers insulin based on input from an integrated continuous glucose monitor – Dexcom G6 – in order to automatically regulate blood-glucose levels. It uses autonomous lifelong learning to calculate and deliver insulin doses and to continually adapt these doses to changing insulin needs.
The FDA cleared the Beta Bionics iLet ACE Pump and the iLet Dosing Decision Software for people six years of age and older with type 1 diabetes on May 19, 2023 and it is finally available for our patients at Grunberger Diabetes Institute.
